Sandfirden and Liebherr develop hybrid propulsion

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dutch genset specialist Sandfirden Technics and Swiss electric equipment supplier Liebherr are to collaborate on the development of hybrid ship propulsion systems.As a part of the agreement, Liebherr will provide complete propulsion systems starting from 200 kW power per drive and including generators, electric motors, switchgear, frequency converter technology and the complete power management system to supply the drives. Sandfirden, already well established within short-sea and inland shipping markets as well as dredging and fisheries vessels, will provide a one-stop solution for hybrid propulsion customers.Components and system solutions by Liebherr have already been deployed for decades in the maritime sector, primarily in ship, offshore, port gantry and ship-to-shore cranes.In a statement, the companies noted: “The experience and know-how of Liebherr in these branches and applications, combined with the expertise of Sandfirden in the field of maritime transport, form a solid basis for successful collaboration.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
