[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Klüber has launched an environmentally acceptable lubricant for open gears, compliant with the US Vessel General Permit.
Klüberbio LG 39-701 N is suitable for anchor winches, jack-up systems and other on-board equipment with open drives and in contact with sea water, It is said to offer good low-temperature behaviour, enabling operation of open drives in areas with temperatures down to -30°C.
Special additves reduce wear and extend the components’s service life. By spraying the lubricant, consumption can be considerably reduced compared to conventional application methods. The new high-temperature lubricant complies with the requirements of Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants
(EAL) as defined in Appendix A of the 2013 Vessel General Permit.
Dirk Fabry, business development manager marine industry, Klüber Lubrication, said: “The high-viscosity base oil of Klüberbio LG 39-701 N comes from renewable resources and is easily biodegradable. Moreover, re-lubrication intervals are extended due to the excellent adhesion and water resistance of the new operational lubricant.”
The new grease has already been approved by a leading manufacturer of spray appliances for jack-up systems for the lubrication of support bearings for ice-resistant thrusters, and for the corrosion protection of hubs in fixed-pitch propellers.
